Introduction

Croquet is a game played by 2 or 4 players with 4 balls, 6 hoops and mallets on a large flat grass lawn. Both of the main forms of the modern game are played in NZ – Golf and Association.

Golf Croquet (GC) is quick to learn but requires accuracy and tactics to master. A typical game lasts around 50 minutes.

Association Croquet (AC) is a longer game of complex strategy and high levels of skill, and is similar in many ways to games like snooker or pool.

Both these game may be played as singles or doubles and many people enjoy playing both, as skills learned in one form of the game may be applied to the other. Furthermore, both forms have their own handicapping systems to ensure that players of any ability can compete against one another.
